TEA CULTURE

According to legend, 5000 years ago the Chinese emperor Chen Nung discovered the joys of tea drinking, as a sudden gust of wind blew some leaves of a tea tree into his drinking bowl of hot water. The colour of the water turned to gold and a lovely smell emerged from the bowl. The emperor tasted the potion and was immediately delighted by its delicious taste and stimulating effects.

It is known that tea has been grown and cultivated in YUNNAN for 1700 years. The tea gardens are located in the cloud-covered mountains about 1200 to 2000 metres above sea level. Up this high the conditions for cultivating tea are ideal: a subtropical climate, fertile soil, clear and clean air and a lot of rain. In YUNNAN, the tea bushes and trees have large leaves, which are soft, delicate and extraordinarily substantial.

All the teas (black, green, red Pu-Erh, yellow and white) are obtained from the leaves of the tea bush „Camellia Sinensis“. Only the processing methods differentiate the varieties of tea. In YUNNAN, every type of tea is produced with close attention to quality.
